Why I started learning Chinese
I started because characters looked like small puzzles. Each one is built from parts, and the parts often hint at meaning or sound. 好 (good) is a woman 女 next to a child 子. 休 (to rest) is a person 亻 leaning against a tree 木.
This notebook is where I write down what I learn, what confuses me, and the word lists from each lesson. It is written for myself first, but if it helps someone else who is starting out — good.
My routine is simple: one lesson with a tutor a week and ten to fifteen minutes of review every day. Progress is slow and steady, which is exactly the point.
